What is an IBCLC?
An IBCLC is an international board-certified lactation consultant. You must have an extensive education in lactation concepts as well as anywhere from 300-1,000 hours of lactation-specific clinical practice. Then, a comprehensive lactation exam is taken. Every five years, you must renew your certification through continuing education or through taking the exam again. I am certified to help with issues such as:
- · Low milk supply
- · Troubleshooting your breast pump
- · Tongue and lip tie
- · Engorgement and plugged ducts
- · Mastitis
- · Latch and positioning difficulties
- · Nipple and breast pain
- · Supplementation (bottles or other)
- · Breastfeeding after reduction
- · Induced lactation
- · Bottle refusal
